In standard ball valves, soft non-metallic seat rings (like PTFE, Devlon, or PEEK) isolate the ball from the valve body. To establish grounding, a spring-loaded stainless steel plunger or ball-spring mechanism is inserted into the stem. This ensures constant metal-to-metal contact between the ball, stem, and valve body to safely dissipate static buildup.
According to API 6D specifications, the electrical resistance of the anti-static path must be measured using a low-voltage DC power source. The resistance path between the ball and the stem, and the stem and the body, must not exceed 10 ohms. This testing is conducted on 100% of our production runs.
We source certified forged carbon steels, SUS 316/304, duplex steels, and specialized ceramic options to prevent galvanic corrosion within the anti-static connection point. This design maintains conductivity even in systems carrying corrosive media or undergoing high-frequency cycling.
